About Steve

I’ve always been passionate about creating the perfect lawn, it’s been a personal hobby for many years now. Having recently retired from corporate life I’ve finally realised my ambition and now spend my days helping others create “lawns to envy” across Dorset and Hampshire.

The service that I offer is uniquely bespoke and personalised to each home-owner’s individual needs.

I take huge pride and enjoyment in my work, always seeking to achieve outstanding results. Client satisfaction is top of my agenda!

Steps to your perfect lawn

How we deliver our lawn care programmes

Aeration

Our professional Aeration Equipment service offers both solid and hollow tine aeration which allows air, water and nutrients to reach the grass roots.

Scarification

Our scarification process removes organic matter, such as thatch or moss, from around the base of the grass plants and tidies up any straggly lateral growth, that will otherwise prevent good dense grass growth.

Overseeding

Overseeding is a natural way to thicken your lawn and crowd out undesirable weeds, and one of the most important tasks involved in growing a healthy, lush lawn.

Lawns that have not been overseeded will grow thin and unhealthy, making it much easier for weeds to overtake the lawn.

Top Dressing

Topdressing your lawn helps level out the turf’s surface. Over time, most lawns develop dips, bumps, and hollows – usually as a result of heavy use (or erosion if your earth is sandy or gritty).

Topdressing helps fill in these hollows and also helps improve the soil quality for better lawn growth.

Lawn Fertiliser

Proper use of lawn fertiliser will keep your lawn in good condition and encourage strong, dense grass growth.

Not only does lawn fertiliser improve the appearance of your lawn but it can also help your turf to recover from wear and tear and the effects of any harsh weather conditions.

Soil Improver

We carry out a pH test which will identify your lawn soil needs and balance requirement.

Lime can be added to increase soil pH (make it more alkaline) and acidifying materials are added to decrease soil pH.

Disease and Pest Damage

There are many diseases and pests that can damage the grass in your lawn. Many can be treated quickly and effectively, and with little disruption.

Supporting Your Lawn Care

Every lawn demands regular maintenance, all year round. We take the stress out of regular maintenance, and you can be sure that the correct treatment is always applied at the correct time of year.

“We engaged the services of Steve James Lawns earlier this year and have been very happy with both the advice, knowledge and application, the results are overwhelming.”
